Comet U18 Guidelines

 Goals

  • Teach and Practice High School Varsity Softball Fundamentals
  • Prepare girls for high school tryouts and Spring schedule
  • Play competitive summer schedule to apply fundamentals

Expectations

  • Competitive Team – coached like a high school varsity team
  • Coaches discretion will determine playing time
  • Line-up decisions made based upon game situations/match-ups
  • Miss practice/game and sit one game
  • Player should speak to head coach regarding issues/absences

 Fall Schedule

  • Team gathering
  • Couple of light outdoor practices (primarily hitting and fielding)
  • Optional, but recommended individual conditioning

 Winter Schedule (Jan/Feb)

  • Indoor Sunday practices (1 ½ hours)
  • Hitting – 1 weekday evening (1 ½ hours)

 Summer Schedule

  • 6 local tournaments (Elgin, Orland Sparks likely) – TBD
  • 1 weekday, double-header practice game (Wednesday Evening)
  • 40-50 games
  • 1 weekday practice (Tuesday or Thursday Evenings)
  • Rest on Mondays
  • Other practice/skills training as needed

 Cost

  • $300 initial payment to confirm roster spot
  • Covers training facilities, tournaments, game facilities, umpires and supplies
  • Additional cost between $0 and $150 depending on success of fundraising and corporate sponsorships
  • Uniform

 Uniform

  • 2 Comet Jerseys (White and Black Jersey)
  • Black Short
  • Black or purple sliding short
  • Socks – TBD (Tie-dyed likely)
  • Visor – optional
  • Estimated cost $150 (new Comet team members
